At the workshop, an invited speaker, Dr. Peter Omemo, provided the background on water contamination, livestock and human health. Representatives of all four collaborating organisations (VIRED International, KEMRI, University of Brighton and University of Southampton) then introduced plans for the different components of the project.

Following the presentations, participants then provided inputs on various aspects of the project including the overall study design, mechanisms for communicating findings, and relevant initiatives already taking place in Siaya County.
